Aiden de Vin

I would advise a first-year student is to get connected. Don’t be scared to go to events and meet new people. For me when I started school I wasn’t sure how I was going to make friends, but connecting with people through clubs and different events helped me get to know more people and that’s where I met a lot of my close friends now.

What advice would you give to a first-year student on how to be more involved on campus?

I think I’ve learned how different and diverse our campus is. For me, I am a fine arts student, and by getting involved in UCM, I met so many more cool and amazing people from different faculties besides my own!

What lessons have you learned from your involvement on campus?

My role in the University Campus Ministry is as a point person for getting people connected. Being a Christian community, we want to encourage people to get connected and find a community that they can be apart of that has similar beliefs to them, but also encourages faith in school. We want to be a light on campus and a loving community for students to be apart of. I help organize events, get people connected in any way that they want to get involved, whether that’s with our Thursday night events or our core groups that meet during the week. I also run the social media like Instagram and Facebook for our club so that people can get to know what’s happening! I honestly love being able to be apart of the UBCO campus in this way!
